Hi all, I'm heading to Warboar in Bromley next Saturday (20th Feb) with a couple of mates from the South London Legion to the X-Wing Store Championship being held. Its a big event and a great venue and having been to their Winter Kit event back in January I can say its brilliant. Tickets are a tenner and available from Warboar Events. Let me know if anyone's interested - it would be great great to see some people from Eagle Squadron there! Matt

I'm tempted.
What's the level of competition like?

I'd expect quite a range of levels. The last event I went to their in January was 40 players and the venue had only been open a week. On the one hand there were 186thers who place highly at Nationals, and at the other end there were people who play casually at home/had only been playing a couple of months. I'd expect this event to be similar.
The pairings/match ups follow the FFG rules so its a type of Swiss - after a couple of rounds you'll end up competing against players at your level.

Got a ticket as well. Only been playing X Wing for a month, so not sure this is the greatest idea, but fancy having a go.

Excellent - that's 3 of us then. No better way to learn than going to an event like that and playing 4 or 5 games a in a day!

In a moment of madness I have also convinced my Mrs to let me have another day's gaming. I managed to pick up a ticket and will be heading down on Saturday.
Anyone have a plan for getting there yet?

Sam, I am going to Bromley South station as it looks the closest to walk to the Mall where Warboar is based at. My journey involves Richmond > Clapham Junction > Victoria > Bromley South. Leaving at 8 and getting there for 9:15 which allows a buffer for me missing trains/ getting lost in Bromley so I'm not stressed for making it for 10 and getting all my tokens out and assembling models. Those who have been there before and know the way, I imagine, will not need that margin for error.

Nice one, will head to Victoria then as well. And I agree Sim, I wouldn't get to the venue any later than 9am. Will have a look at train times and see what gets us in for 9am.

Just checked my emails and yep Warboar has sent me the timings. Looks like I will have to try and get to Bromley South for 8:30 as the following journey gets me there for 8:53. I catch my 1st train (of 3) at 7:15 so it's going to be a LONG day!
Do we play 5 games and then the cut or 6 games?
Warboar are mentioning that it is the biggest Store Championship in London (which is a touch intimidating!).

Definately agree that we want to be there at 9am at the very latest. They're going to have to work quick to register 60 odd players in 30 or so min and give them time to set up - I don't think any of us will want to be toward the end of the queue.
Fortunately Bromley South is a 5-10 min walk from Warboar and there are plenty of places to grab a coffee en route.
Think I'm going to aim for the 8:07am from Victoria that gets to Bromley South for 08:23am. That way, if there are any delays etc. there will be another train or two afterwards (the 8:10am and the 8:22am look like the fastest after that) otherwise I'll be cutting it fine.
