Thanks for the game on Friday guys, after some small changes we managed to get a "Rebels" themed game of Epic together along with a few fun ships as well.
I think it was a bit of a learning curve about placement and movement of Huge ships as the poor Tantive IV was out of position for most of the game and just couldn't catch the Raider until the closing turns. A 6x3 table has an enormous impact on the slower ships like y-wings and even the Ghost.
Highlight and cinematic moment of the match was the A-wing Prototype pilot firing a range 3 shot at Redline (still with 5 hull) and managing to push through two crits. And yep, you guessed it, Direct Hit, followed by Major Explosion (which Aidan rolled a hit for) and then another Direct Hit. Who knows what the probability of that combo is but Redline went up in a spectacular fireball (he hadn't even fired any of his six missiles/torpedoes/bombs at that stage)
The Awing was then promptly squashed as he K-turned in front of the Gozanti which ran over him in revenge. Other than that, the battle went mainly the imperials way, mopping up their strike fighters and swinging around to confront the Tantive. Though it should equal out, Aidan was his usual lucky red dice self and the rebels rolled awfully in the opening exchange. (Guidance chips would have certainly helped the assault missiles hit their targets)
Anyway, I think we'll be better placed for another game if we remember that huge ships are slow and should almost be placed in contact from the start. Flanking with even speed 5 ships takes an awful long time to reach the battle.
Finally, here's a shot of the very happy Sith Lord (Aidan) with his Raider and Gozanti in position to crush the Lothal rebels. (actually, can't get it to load....will see what I can do in the future)
