Hello all. A couple of us who play are looking for a venue and to attend the club, so we had some questions about the club, if that is okay?
1 - How much are the fees for playing? 2 - How big are the tables in use? 6X4? 4X4?
We often play multiplayer games, so is it possible to put a couple of tables together for a slightly bigger table when we do?
3 - Do we need to bring terrain with us?
Many thanks

Hi Matthew,
Welcome to the club. Which game systems are you and your friends looking to play?
In answer to your questions:
1) Fees are £2 per person per session (your first session is free). All fees go back into the club and are spent on new gaming mats, scenery, boardgames etc. We do play in the Spread Eagle pub in Wandsworth (who give us a great deal on the room) so please also buy drinks and snacks from the bar when you're there.
2) The tables are 6x4, although we tend to be fairly flexible. We play a large range of games, so take up a 6x4, whilst others take up much less room. We'll often flex depending on what systems are being played on any given evening.
3) It is possible to put a couple of tables together for bigger games. We'd ask that you let us know in advance so we can make sure enough space is reserved. In terms of length of longer games, if an evening after work doesn't give you enough time there is the possibility of opening up at the weekend (you'd need to find one of the club's key holders who is able to attend).
4) For terrain we have a range of sci-fi/40k buildings and 28mm scale fantasy terrain, alongside some other bits inc. for Warmahordes which are available to use. We also have some 6x4 gaming mats and lots of 3x3 space gaming mats for Armada, X-Wing etc.
Hope to catch you down the club soon and let us know if you have any further queries,
Matt

Many thanks. We've a range of games that we play, but at the moment, American Civil War is the one we're going for right now - using a fairly quick and easy ruleset to get through games in a decent amount of time (quicker than the average 40K game). If weekends are possible, then that would be excellent as we could bring the big divisons out to play and have a larger multiplayer with everyone taking a brigade each. Theres been some large Zulu and Napoleonics games played in the past, as well as big WW2 games like Pegasus Bridge. Thats a good option to have! Especially if my current Mahdist wars project gets finished. We'll make it clear when booking the tables, perhaps? Just two would be enough, really, pushed together. I think theres only going to be a couple of us on the initial visit, as various people drop in and out of the games as they fancy. Thanks again

Sounds great - we don't have much in the way of historical gaming down the club (the occasional bit of WW2) so would be great to get some more going. Come down and visit us on a Thursday evening for a game or even just a drink and a chat. The sign up threads for Thursdays can be found at Thursday Challenge Threads

Thanks. Its looking like a few of us are around on 1st Feb, so will put a request up for that date when it appears. If we could get a pair of tables pushed together for a 6X8, then it'd be perfect, but that depends on how busy the club is on a night, I suppose?
We don't just do historical, theres a couple of 40K players, LoTR players and the general GW games, but our collective thing is historical based as its easy. Essentially we like communal games where everyone can chip in and get involved.

Hi all
Can’t beiive I’ve only just heard about this gaming club. I’m a local to the Spresd Eagle (like a 3 minute walk) and am well into a bit of WH; mainly 40k but also a bit of AoS. It would be cool to come down for a game one night - I have a mate in Putney who’d be up for it too.
What nights tend to be the most active?

Our regular nights are Thursdays (open around 5:30 to 6pm, close at 11pm when the pub shuts). Other nights/weekends we occasionally open but its very much as and when. The main systems that get played are 40k, X-Wing and Armada, with some others. There is the occasional bit of Warmahordes and Shadespire is generating some interest on the AoS front. We're all friendly and happy to give you a game/ intros of new systems Matt

I work in the City so might not be there until 7pm Hi Spence, We have a challenge thread for each Thursday session to request table bookings ( Challenge thread link). Not a problem about arriving at 7pm. Many of our members work central and get there about 7pm by the time they leave work and travel to Wandsworth. please put any booking request there. Matt

Whats the rules with putting up challenge threads? Controlled by the mods or can we ask for table bookings in advance? My lot is coming down on 1st Feb.

Hi Matthew Challenge Threads usually go up 6 days or so before the session (for the 1st Feb the challenge thread should go up on the 26th/27th Jan). Once the thread is live you can request bookings on a first come, first served basis. Along with your bookings we'll need to know player names/numbers and the size and number of tables you need so that we can make sure enough space is reserved. The area in the forum for the Thursday challenge threads is here.

I've just approved your request so you should have full access to the forum now. Pop down to the club on a Thursday and I'm sure we can sort you out with a game - there's plenty of X-Wing and 40k going on most weeks. Matt

Hi all - another prospective new member here (also waiting on approval). I'm mainly based in Norfolk, but usually spend a couple of nights a week in Wimbledon (so nearby-ish). Mainly an Armada player (Realadmiralsdoitinspace on the FFG forums), but recently started getting into X-Wing... hoping to be pushing some plastic spaceships with ya'll soon.
