With two confirmed Eagle club members having bought the starter set for Legion, it's time we had a thread set up to discuss the great new game from FFG.
First of all, I've only just had a trial match with the core set but from the start I'm pretty hooked.
The models are great and I'm really enjoying painting up some stormtroopers, but it's many of the really nice tweaks to the traditional miniatures wargaming that have really impressed.
A few of the best bits:-
Almost finished a squad of stormtroopers and psyching myself up to take on the AT-ST, quite enjoying the hobby side of the game which I haven't done for some time.
Anyway, let Callum or me know if you would like a demo, will post another thread on starting off and buy in options.

A few of the best bits:-
- Defining the battlefield - Each game has three random cards dealt for deployment, objective and battlefield conditions. Each player gets two vetoes to determine how the game will be played
- You go, I go - no more waiting around being clobbered for a whole turn before you get a go
- Orders - Issued by your commander to range 3, these allow for an initiative bid every turn of the game! The fastest order goes first that turn, but typically orders fewer units
- Semi random activations - every unit activates each turn, but if it doesn't have an order token, you randomly select a token from your stack to activate a unit - great fog/ chaos of war mechanic
- Some really elegant abstractions for movement and shooting - be very accurate with the unit leader and then place everyone else in coherence - no more individual measures
- Speeder units - compulsory full move each turn keeps them moving (and fun to plan several turns ahead and not crash into an Endor tree with your speeder bike
- AT-STs - what more can I say?!
