So a new country and new friends. What better way to start out than with a new army of angry'ish knife ears.
I've gone with the retribution, after reading up about the game they seem to be a great utility army with multiple units able to do multiple things.
I've gone ahead and committed, buying my self an all in one box and a starter battle box to kick things off.
I've put a few of them together and even started painting them... Not something I do often. Thanks to G for helping me out on this front with advice.
Otherwise I've even played a game or two. Do not start on 35pts it's madness figuring out what everything does. I found that anything can be potentially lethal and feats are game changing.
I look forward to playing more games and throwing angry elves at people.

Have you managed to slice off all your fingers yet?
What made you pick Retribution?

I chose the retribution because they seem to be one of the more versatile armies in the game. I like to have a lot of utility in my armies. They are fast moving and while they may not have the best stats in the game the make up for it by being able to achieve multiple things on the battlefield, adaptability being the name of the game. I like the options they give me.
on the hobby front I'm well ahead of where I thought I would be at this point. having built, undercoated all of my new toys from both the battle box and the all in one box. I have even gone so far as laying down the primary colour for the armies armour. The problem being is that while it looks really good on the infantry I'm struggling to get the colour to work on the Jacks. Next up will be deciding on the colour to add to my scheme. But all in all I've done more hobby in two weeks than I've done in five years.
Now onto the important bit... the Battles
I've had the opportunity to play 3 games now. One battlebox sized game against Gary and the circle, at the time I didn't have my own battlebox so I chose an alternative 15pt army, all I can say is if you are going to play these games use the official battlebox contents as they are more balanced between them, I certainly felt like I had a massive advantage purely because of the models I took.
the second was against G's Legion of gribblies, It was 35pts and man was it taxing to figure out what everything in my army did but an enjoyable game none the less. This is the game where I saw just how much using your warcasters feat at the right time can change the game and that everything is potentially dangerous. As I watched the humble halberdiers tear down 3 Heavies and severely hurt a 4th while being backed up by Issyria, Sibyl of Dawn's feat. synergy plays a large part in this game.
And lastly I played 20pts vs the convergence last night, I switched out warcasters as well to see the difference they made to lists and man do they make a big difference by bringing different options and synergies to the table. Sam played a little too defensively giving me massive board control and letting me dictate play but other than that it was really fun game. Man of the match going to my 4pt Griffon light jack who cut his way up the table only to loose both arms to Sam's own caster but despite this the poor little armless fella still managed to survive and knock down the enemy caster with a Headbut making him an easy kill for the halberdiers.
So far I'm really enjoying my time with Warmahordes, and will be looking to get more games in in the future. and possibly get a bit more colour on my guys before this strange hobbiness I've found burns its self out

So pledges.
I have achieved alot over the past two weeks. Including building and base coating all my new toys.
With most of my armour done I'm going to start looking at other colours. Over the next two weeks in going to start on just painting the leathers on the models as I still haven't decided on a secondary colour.
And hopefully get a good game in each week.

I only had a single game last week against Mike's Khador.
We played a very simple straight assassination game with no terrain as a learning experience. Well unsurprisingly I found out that khador models are fairly tough and that winter guard are deadly. luckily the stealth granted to my halberdiers from my feat saved a good amount of them and they were able to tie up the guard and slaughter them over the next few turns. leaving my banshee and griffon to work together for the assassination bypassing his impossibly tough Jacks.
I can say I am enjoying the Ret I find that they may not be the strongest or toughest models on the table but they do bring options and versatility.
The models and units that stand out for me at the moment are:
The humble Griffon light jack - fast enough to hit where and when it wants, yet dangerous enough that my opponents cant just ignore it. its directly responsible for a few wins. its threat range is large enough to cause serious problems.
next up the Halberdiers on of my cheapest infantry units and front line troopers. they are surprisingly tough, good in defence(unless FIRE...Tom), and fairly dangerous when on the charge against other units and light jacks. Their UA makes the unit truly shine making them even faster with reform or hit even harder with their mini feat.
Lastly I have found the banshee Heavy Jack to be very versatile, with his momentum cannon being a really useful ranged weapons that Slams its target. that being said I'm still not sure how capable it is in combat as it hasn't engaged anything yet.
hopefully I will be able to post some hobby stuff soon.

I'm liking it Matty. I'm sure my Legion will discover what a momentum cannon does fairly soon.

Well actually lots of your beasts are immune to knockdown so not really!
Matty the UA so often make the unit. I managed to get mine sniped by jack, make sure the important models hang out at the back!

So I managed to get the leathers done plus a little more. I will try get some decent pictures up tonight.
so for this week I am going to paint up all my halberdiers shields and hopefully come up with the last piece of my colour problem. on the Jack front I am going to concentrate on my banshee he has been doing a lot of work for me and he deserves a lick of paint.
Last week was also very quiet on the gaming front so I will be aiming to get at least one game in, if not more, each week if there are any takers.

Alright then I've been informed I have to change my pledge.
So I will instead be making a new purchase for my army and learning about the new units in a good fight.
Hopefully adding to my knowledge of the game as well

So last week I found it a bit difficult to get a game in. But I got in a couple.
I learned that ret casters can be very soft and that over relying on stealth can be a fatal mistake.
While I can often get into position to control the board I often find I don't have the long range threat after that. To that end of picked up a pair of mage hunter assassins and a squad of mage hunter strike force.
With big T my new caster and my new reinforcements I'm ready to try games of 35pts.
This time round I must do a hobby pledge. So I'm going to get my strike force done. And hopefully a bit more.

The mage hunters are some of my favourite figures in any game. Their unit attachment not only looks amazing but gives them phantom seeker (I can shoot you through walls)
You should have a lot of fun with them
