So I've kinda cheated a bit by simply buying a 95 point Legion list, but even though it's painted, I do think I'll probably try my hand at redoing them slowly, as the previous owner doesn't seem to have cared much for the painting side.
I have not painted anything of consequence in at least 5 years, so this will be quite a challenge to get going again, but I am quite excited.
First though, I need to learn the rules and decide on what the hell I'm doing. So far I've only really had one game, and I didn't even know the names of the models let alone what they did, so for my first pledge, I am going to learn all the rules and have a game on Thursday where I don't look like a complete noob, just my usual idiot self.
I think I'm going to keep my warcaster as Lylyth1 for the moment till I've had a few games with my gribblies. It seems as if I have acquired some fairly decent troop models with this list, but let's be honest, I'm all about the big blind beasties!

As the previous owner I take offence. The dude who had them before me was a drybrush pro though

So I had my first proper game, against the aforementioned previous owner, and general pyrofiliac, Tom U.
Things I've learnt, in no particular order:
Being on fire sucks. Words to live by.
Range plays a fairly big role, if you haven't brought any. Tom's dudes were lighting me up fairly early on, and forced me into some difficult choices, and I don't think I made the right ones.
11 Point Carniveans with two defensive Animi are not as survivable as I thought they were. Operative word being 'were'. RIP you beautiful land shark.
Going first still makes a fairly big difference. I thought that seeing as not much would be in range for the early turns, both sides would be able to grab a fairly decent chunk of table before getting stuck in, but if you're going second, it's a bit more difficult than I thought.
Mid to end game is really exciting. Once you get to the point where every model has two or three different useful things it could be doing, it really gets fun.
Lylyth and assassination runs: effective, even if Tom wasn't playing an optimum list, and let me sneak in there by not paying attention to a few small things.
Trample is awesome if you can pull it off. My scythean had a mad dash towards his caster, which nearly ended in its untimely demise from the tramplees, but if it had gone slightly better, I may not even have needed Lylyth.

The assassination stuff is easy to make a mistake and give away. Remember that the tiniest, and I do mean tiniest, gaps between two bases means shooting at the model behind that gap at no penalty. Even .2mm of a bloody gap. No penalty. Not that I'm still bitter you understand Quite important when playing Lylth and handy when running legion in general. Though you can only have one animus active at a time on a target. Legion are kinda all shades of awesome you'll have a blast with them! Though yeah being set on fire sucks when it just wont go out

Righto so I then spent the next two days reading and rereading Legion's rules so I could make a more competitive army, and then had another go at playing Tom on Saturday. Learning points this time:
Just because you've thought up an absolutely amazing combo, doesn't mean your opponent doesn't have one too.
Holy crap Tom's Menoth has a lot of shooting. I knew this, and it still took me slightly off guard haha. My infantry were suitably unimpressed, and also, on fire.
Blast attack damage is halved if you're not the primary target. This is very important to know when your opponent has clumped everything, and you decide to go for broke and blow everything up in one fell swoop, only to realise that it's actually not very a very clever idea...
I need to figure out how to use rippers. I keep bringing one because it looks awesome, and it just hangs around the back field doing nothing.
Epic Vayl seems like a good choice for me. She's not super power, but she's got a great toolbox and loads of utility.

Okay so I went to Dark Sphere and they didn't have all I required (which is strange because they have an amazing selection!) but I did manage to pick up another Shepherd, as well as the correct EVayl model, so my misssion is to have them assembled, undercoated, and at least start working on the colour scheme for my list before my second Angelius and the Harriers arrive.
I haven't painted in at least four years, so this is going to get interesting!

Helllloooooo! So I've been a bit lax with the forum of late, but there has been much happening in the background.
As most are aware, I have very painstakingly assembled the Angelius model, only using around 5 meters of pinning, three tubs of liquid greenstuff, and a tube of the epoxy that they use to glue tanks together. If it breaks, I'm buying a soldering iron.
I've also assembled two harriers, EVayl, and a shepherd, and basecoated them, as well as having decided on a colour scheme. Now begins the difficult part, the actual painting.
I've been having a fair amount of success with EVayl, and her tiered list makes me happy on the inside. I'm sure she's still in for a world of pain, but I haven't really seen what glaring her weaknesses are. I am now massively torn between starting an EThagrosh army, which smashes things particularly well, an ELylyth army which shoots things to bits, or a Saeryn list that excels at board control and objective camping.
So for my pledge, I'm going to try get as many games in with all my random casters above, and figure out which one I like the most, starting with EThagrosh!

Looks like I will be going with the good old dark red highlighted all the way up to blazing sun orange. I've done two armies like that already, and I'm so comfortable with it that it's nice and easy.
ELylyth does such interesting things with range, but I would need to effectively buy another whole Legion army, as I only have one of the models that work with her!

It's like you're asking us to convince you to do that mate...
